Online students are admitted to the online MSW program and on-campus students to the on-campus MSW program. Students may request to move between the online and on-campus programs. Moving between programs involves multiple considerations (see below), and may not be possible in all cases. Due to the significant implications of such changes, a program change will not be permitted more than once. Any future desire to change between programs would require a new application to their desired MSW program and a new admissions decision (note that admission is not guaranteed).
Students must develop an academic plan with a technical advisor. Students must then complete an Out of Sequence Petition. Changes to the curriculum schedule following enrollment must be approved by the MSW program director, director of field education, and the assistant dean for enrollment management. Please note that there may be financial aid consequences for such a change
Critical considerations: • Unless the student has a field placement in which they can remain, students must communicate with the Field Office to determine the time required. Timing differences may be related to whether or not a current affiliation agreement exists and geographic location. • There are probable financial implications of this switch. Students must communicate with the University Office of Financial Aid and the SSW Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management for further clarification. • Be aware that the online program only offers two curricular pathways: Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse and Children, Youth, and Families (previously Welfare of Children and Families). If the change will require a change to a curricular pathway, it may not be possible depending on the availability of courses and remaining credits the student last left to take in the program.
